Points to be considered before Tree Plantation

As soon as rainy season get started everyone plans for tree plantation.
The awareness of tree plantation is spreading among the people which is a good sign,
That we should take care of our mother nature.

From oxygen to breathe, food to eat and clean water to drink... Mother Nature gives so much to us.
But in return what we are giving back? Pollution? Disturbing her ecosystem?

Of course we can’t stop this kiosk. As we need progress.
But at least we may reduce this, by maintaining what we have. If we can’t plant new trees, at least we can take care of old ones. And if you wish to plant new trees, then I would suggest you to go for indigenous plants only.

🌳 Why indigenous plants??

Indigenous means ->
Thing originating or occurring naturally in a particular place. 
Things produced, growing, living, or occurring naturally in a particular region or environment; Native.


Have you observed; birds prefer native tress only to build their nests? Insects hover over native flowers for food / honey!
As these plants help them for breeding and in return birds/insects help trees for growing new saplings.
This is the ECOSYSTEM. And we must help to maintain it.

Few years back government decided to plant trees on both the sides of Mumbai-Goa National Highway.  And without doing any prior study, our SYSTEM just plants whichever trees they get, most of them were non- indigenous trees.

Then what were the results??
Trees like Acacia started growing rapidly killing native plants.
Fruits and flowers of such trees are so sludgy that roads became slippery.
And it leads to severe accidents.

🌳 When is the perfect time of Tree Plantation?

Don’t plant trees if it’s raining heavily. As we are going to plant small trees, which won’t survive in such weather.
If you anyways want to follow this 'tree plantation ritual'; just for selfies, photos and publicity; OR next year also if you are going to plant tree in same dig out holes, then go for it 😊👍

🌳 What are indigenous or native plants??

Here I am listing out some native plants, first 10 plants lives over 100 years even:

🌳1. banyan (or 'banian') - वड
🌳2. bodhi tree /pippala tree / peepul tree / peepal tree / ashwattha tree  - पिंपळ
🌳3. cluster fig tree / Indian fig tree / goolar (gular) fig - औदुंबर / उंबर
🌳4. kadamba tree - कदंब
🌳5. Jambul / Jamun - जांभूळ
🌳6. toddy palm / sugar palm - ताड
🌳7. Bullet wood - बकुळ
🌳8. mahuwa / mahua - मोह
🌳9. mango - आंबा
🌳10. jackfruit - फणस
🌳11. Indian gooseberry /  Malacca tree /  amla - आवळा
🌳12. adulsa - अडुळसा
🌳13. behda - बेहडा
🌳14. Indian bael - बेल
🌳15. Sacred Tree - पळस

🌳31. tamarind - चिंच (this is not actually indian origin plant, but since ancient times our ecosytem very much accepted it)


According to the Sanskrit saying -
'अश्वत्थमेकं पिचुमंदमेकं न्यग्रोधमेकं दशचिंचिणीकम ।
कपित्थबिल्वा  मलकत्रय्ं च पंचाम्रवापी नरकं न पश्येत् '||

➡️ भविष्यपुराणातल्या  एका सुंदर श्लोकाचा मतितार्थ म्हणजे पिंपळ ,कडूलिंब आणि वड  यापैकी एक वृक्ष  आणि चिंचेची दहा झाडे किंवा कवठ, बेल आणि आवळा यापैकी कोणत्याही जातीचे तीन वृक्ष आणि आंब्याची पाच झाडे जो लावेल तो नरकात जाणार नाही . [ म्हणजेच त्याचे वाईट होणार नाही ] .
➡️ one who will plant and take care of below mentioned trees, he will never go to hell.
- One of the trees from peepal ,neem, banian AND
10 trees of tamarind OR bael, amla AND
5 trees of mangoes
