Originally Posted By  : http://lifehacker.com/survive-a-fall-through-ice-with-this-illustrated-guide-1520029142 Falling into a frozen lake is no laughing matter, and getting out isn't as easy as it might seem. The folks over at The Art Of Manliness have put together a great guide to surviving a fall through ice. Obviously the best course of action is to avoid walking out onto ice, but if you ever find yourself out there, this information could save your life. The important point is: don't try to pull yourself straight up; instead, hold onto the ice and kick your feet to pull yourself forward horizontally. Then roll away, rather than walking away. The post over at the Art of Manliness has a lot of other great info, so hit the link below for more. How to Survive Falling Through the Ice: An Illustrated Guide | Art of Manliness

To make that process a bit easier, The Kitchn suggests using a lemon. The process here just requires a lemon, a microwave-safe bowl, and a dry towel: Pour water in the bowl: Measure about a half cup of water into the bowl. Squeeze the lemon: Slice the lemon in half and squeeze the juice into the water. Drop the lemon halves into the bowl. Microwave for 3 minutes: Place the bowl in the microwave. Microwave on high power for 3 minutes so the liquid comes to a boil. Let stand for 5 minutes: Do not open the microwave door. The steam trapped inside will help loosen food gunk. Let stand for 5 minutes. Wipe the microwave clean: Open the door and carefully remove the bowl with the lemons. If your microwave has a turntable, lift it out and wipe it clean. Wipe the inside of the micro

Even when you do get the wax itself up, you're often left with a stain that's hard to deal with. But, follow these three steps and your carpets will look like new again. The pros overover the Family Handyman show us how to get rid of that melted candle wax, and the stain, the right way: Scrape up as much of the hardened wax as you can with a butter knife. Don't be afraid to get in there, but do be careful with carpets like Berber where the loops fray easily. Dampen a cotton towel, fold it in half, and place it over the wax. They can cause your skin to dry up, itch, even hurt. But mostly, they're just ugly. One of our favorite wart-removal remedies involves duct tape, but there are other things you can try, including green tea. The folks at DIY Health explain that the antioxidants in green tea is excellent for removing warts from the skin. You can drink 2-3 cups per day to help reduce the action of HPV on the skin or you can apply the teabags directly. Just steep a bag for 5 minutes in near-boiling water, the same as you would for making a cup of tea. Let the bag cool, apply it to the wart, and let it sit there for 10-15 minutes. Do this three times per day. The warts will eventually dry and fall out. And for ma
